SIBUSISO MBHELE'S NEW YORK CHECKER CAB
After much searching for wheels, ideas for hub caps and yellow paint, the New York Checker cab, commissioned by Dieter Losskarn, arrived from Zululand in an exciting box. Destined to spend its life in a specially designed glass recess in the most amazing house I've ever seen, it is a testament to Sibusiso's versatile abilities .... and Dieters endless interest in all checker cabs and recycled craft.

SIBUSISO MBHELE.....
.... is one of Red Rocks unique artists who lives in a helicopter that he made by himself - all he wants to do is FLY! He does not want to live in a "normal" house.
Sibusiso climbing out of his FISH HELICOPTER which has been made out of old mini busses, corrugated iron roof sheeting and various interesting pieces of scrap metal
He has made submarines, spitfires, hawker hurricanes, windmills, lighthouses, and now, we are waiting for him to complete a New York checker cab for a special order .... watch this space!

The size of Sibusiso's helicopter is larger than one would imagine - we can drive our Toyota 4x4 (with a roof top tent) underneath it and still have room to spare.

Farsiders and Garden Delights

They love visitors coming into the shop
Each day they get put out on the step
to appreciate what life brings forth ......
........unwanted enamel bowls made into wheelbarrows
- deligthful toys for children
or vessels into which plants can be displayed
and fish made from unwanted jacaranda trees
- part of a "working for water" project
which uplift any corner of the garden - available in white
Each day the display is different
each day a new story is told. .........

Summer over ??
Well the easter weekend has now passed, and it seems to be getting colder each day, next on the horizon is the soccer.Holding thumbs for a continuous stream of visitors from now on.
As for the upcoming trip to Zambia, well that is on hold due to the heavy rains up north which are showing no signs of slowing down yet. When the time is right it'll happen, so we just have to be patient.
Till the next time.....

we prettied up the garden and filled the shop with stock
We travelled far and wide to find a u-nique choice of goods
made of metal, tins and plastic to a variety of woods
There's jewellery here for old and young, and shoes and bags and hats
planes and helicopters and funky eating mats
A multitude of windmills and sculptures for the breeze
snakes and gheko's, chicks and cats and animals of beads
Unless you pay a visit you won't see what we have-
something very special......made in Africa with LOVE!
